​Hello Families! I hope you had a wonderful week. It is hard to believe next week is the last week of March, especially since we have yet to experience ‘spring’ weather!

On Tuesday, staff and students wore ‘special socks’ to raise awareness for World Down Syndrome Day. Thank you to our very own Mira and her Mom Gillian for handing out the socks for us! I hope your children were able to come home and talk about Down Syndrome.

This afternoon, our staff will be participating in a professional learning session delivered by The Learning Disabilities Association of New Brunswick. This supports our School Improvement Goal of being more inclusive and we are looking forward to the opportunity to ask questions and gain strategies for the classroom.

-Monday, March 27 – Please wear purple for World Purple Day for epilepsy! We will have 'purple' stickers for those who can't find anything purple!

-Thursday, March 30 – Student Voice Meeting

                -STAR student assembly

-For planning purposes, I wanted to let you know some end-of-year dates to remember! There are more dates to come, but the following have been determined already:

                -June 1 – District Track & Field for students in grades 3-5 who place at the school level

                -June 6 – Grades 3-5 to Green Hill Lake

                -June 7 – Grade 5 Graduation/Celebration (morning) – details TBA

                                -Open House & Fun Night at Nashwaaksis Memorial 5:30-7:00pm

                -June 9 – Whole school to Science East (times TBA)

                -June 14 – McAdam Avenue School Reunion/Open House 1-5pm

                -June 23 – Last day for students

Items to note:

-Don’t forget about our McAdam Avenue Family Library sign-out! I will get notified if you sign up to borrow a book and will send it home with your child. -Some of our families are currently participating in Ramadan, so we will be having classroom discussions about this celebration. Please look for more information about Ramadan to come home this week.

-It is confirmed that no other work will be done at our school site until July in preparation for the new school. 

-We have been planning many activities to ease the transition of our students to Nashwaaksis Memorial next year. That being said, we'd like to hear any ideas you have about how to prepare families for this transition. One event we have planned is an Open House/Family Fun Night at NMS in June. If you have any other ideas, please feel free to reach out!
